Hostickets, a division of Makhina Group (Pty) Ltd ("we," "our," or "us"), is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in how we handle your data. We collect information you provide directly to us, as well as information automatically generated when you use our platform:

  • Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (securely hashed and not readable by us).
  • Transaction Information: When you purchase a ticket, we record details such as event information, ticket type, and price. Payment card details are processed exclusively by Paystack and never stored on Hostickets servers.
  • Usage Data: We may collect technical information such as IP address, device type, browser version, and interactions with our platform for analytics and service improvement.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the Hostickets platform.
  • Process transactions and deliver your digital tickets.
  • Communicate important updates such as ticket confirmations, reminders, or event changes.
  • Improve and personalize your user experience.
  • Comply with legal obligations under South African law (including POPIA).

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data when necessary to provide our Service:

  • Firebase (Google): Used for authentication, hosting, and secure data storage.
  • Paystack: Processes all ticket purchase payments securely. Hostickets does not store card details.
  • Event Organizers: We may share necessary attendee details (e.g., name, email, ticket type) with the Organizer to manage entry and event communications.
  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose information if required by law or lawful government requests.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption and secure access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

In line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and applicable global privacy principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request corrections to inaccurate or outdated data.
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to legal or contractual obligations.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.
  • Object to certain types of processing, such as direct marketing.
